How To Use The Award Calendar On Delta Airlines

Great news for travelers! A bunch of Delta Air Lines “Delta One” business class award seats have just become available for redemption with 98,000 miles [expired]. If you’ve got a Delta Air Lines co-branded credit card, you’re in for an even sweeter deal – 86,000 miles only. Ever since Delta Air Lines switched to dynamic pricing, finding business class seats on long-haul routes at a “reasonable price” has felt like hunting for a needle in a haystack. It’s not uncommon to see searches demanding hundreds of thousands of miles, leaving cardholders wondering if accumulating miles is still worth it.

But here’s the exciting part: Delta Air Lines has recently released a treasure trove of business class award seats between Seattle and Taipei at what you could actually call “reasonable prices.” If your travel plans align, this is the perfect chance to use those Delta Air Lines miles and enjoy a luxurious journey.

How To Use The Award Calendar On Delta Air Lines?

First of foremost, the Award Calendar is your secret weapon for hunting down those sweet “reasonable prices” on mileage redemptions. Here’s how to wield it like a pro:

First, head over to the Delta Air Lines website and enter your departure and destination cities (let’s say Seattle to Taipei). Choose an approximate date for your trip, but don’t forget to tick the “Shop with miles” box. Make sure to check “My dates are flexible” to cast a wider net. Pick “Delta One” for your cabin class and hit search. Then, you’ll see results for just one week, but here’s where it gets exciting: click on the price calendar, and voila! You’ll reveal the entire month’s availability. The lowest prices in that date range will pop up in green, making it a breeze to spot those killer deals.

“Reasonable Miles” Dates For Business Class – Outbound

Now it’s the meat – dive into the award calendar and uncover the gems! The prime times for redemption are mainly September 2024 and January through February 2025. You can snag a one-way ticket for just 98,000 miles plus $6 in taxes – an absolute bargain, especially with fuel surcharges on the rise.

“Reasonable Miles” Dates For Business Class – Inbound

🔥🔥 There are quite a few availability on the way back to Seattle from Taipei. By choose “round trip”, you can view the availability for the return trip ticket at 196,000 miles + $40 in taxes.

However, if you only search for “one-way” award availability, the return prices on some of the days are still holding firm. So, if you’re planning the full trip, always be prepared you might need to get a bit creative with your return plans.

How To Earn Delta Air Lines Award Miles

American Express (Amex) is Delta Air Lines’ ultimate sidekick when it comes to racking up miles. If you’ve got flexible points with a U.S. credit card, you’re in luck! Amex Membership Rewards (MR) and Diners Club Points can both be transferred to Delta Air Lines at a 1:1 ratio, turning those points into Delta Air Lines award miles. But here’s a heads-up: transferring points comes with a small fee ($0.0006 per point, maxing out at $99), so you’ll end up paying $6 for every 10,000 miles you transfer. You can use Amex MR points to cover this fee, but it’s generally not the best way to spend them.

If you’re looking to seriously boost your Delta Air Lines award miles, your best move is to grab a Delta Air Lines co-branded card from Amex and cash in on the welcome bonus – since Delta Air Lines miles don’t often go on sale. Right now, you’ve got several personal and business co-branded cards to choose from.

Let’s spotlight the personal ones:

  • Delta SkyMiles Gold American Express Card
  • Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card
  • Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card

With these cards in your wallet, you’ll be stacking up miles faster than you can say “upgrade” to business class.

Seize This Rare Chance For Delta Air Lines Business Class At Great Rates

Delta Air Lines has been setting the pace with dynamic pricing, quickly adapting their redemption rules faster than any other U.S. airline. That’s why this chance to redeem just 98,000 miles (and maybe snag an extra 15% off if you’ve got a co-branded card – this will be 86,000 miles) for a one-way business class ticket between North America and Asia is a true gem. If you’ve got upcoming travel plans, don’t let this golden opportunity slip away – grab it before it’s gone!
